THE WHISTLIN DONKEYS
& GUESTS

FRI 30TH AUGUST 2024
TUS GAELIC GROUNDS

IRELAND’S BIGGEST CELEBRATION OF FOLK, BALLADS & TRAD !

Unarguably the finest line up of Irish Folk and Celtic rock this year is taking place at the Gaelic Grounds this August 30th when the second annual Gaelic Sounds Festival comes to Limerick

This year the lineline-up includes George Murphy & Rising Sons, All Folk’d Up, The Highstool Prophets, Fieldsy & guest and headline act The Whistlin' Donkeys.

Expect to hear hits like ‘Bee’s Wing, ‘South Australia’ and of course ‘Hills of Donegal from the Tyrone boys who are fresh from a sell out national tour .

Joining them at the Ennis road venue is one of the most exciting voices in Irish folk music, George Murphy & The Rising Sons. Fresh from a sold-out tour of the USA and Ireland, they will bring their perfect blend of Trad, Folk and Rock ‘n’ Roll to the stage, blending whistles, fiddles and banjos with electric guitars, bass and percussion.

All Folk’d Up have earned huge acclaim as one of the standout new wave bands on the Irish folk circuit. Their unique ability to reimagine old Irish folk and traditional songs, infusing them with a modern and up-tempo twist, has endeared them to fans and their live show is legendary !

With their versions of ‘This is the Life’ and ‘Dream’ currently all over the radio and Spotify, The High Stool Prophets have been blazing a trail on the Irish folk scene with a string of sold out shows, TV appearances and new music releases and have just sold out an extensive Irish and UK tour. Fieldsy is the brightest female star on the folk and ballad scene and whether it’s a Wolfe Tone’s classic or a contemporary track she brings a unique flavour to each performance.  James Mc Grath flies in from Nashville via Nenagh to open things up on the day.

With an all-star line up, bars, food and seats in the stand or dancing on the pitch available, what better way to round off your Summer than coming along to the Gaelic Grounds for Gaelic Sounds  !
